ABOUT ME

Ph. D. in Hispanic Philology with a doctoral dissertation entitled "Music and Literature: the rhetorical footpath. Towards a new consideration of the music in Cervantes’ Works". He joined University of Castilla-La Mancha as Associate Professor in 2009. Master of Arts in Musicology, Master of Arts in Literary Theory and Master of Arts in Music (Piano). Actually he's CIDoM Co-Director (Center for Musical Research and Documentation, Associated Unit of National Research Council). He has been awarded with National Extraordinary, granted by the Culture and Education Department (1998). Also he has received Extraordinary Award of Counterpoint granted by Conservatory Joaquín Turina (Madrid, 2001). Associate Professor (Profesor Titular de Universidad) at University of Castilla-la Mancha, he teaches Musical Language, Music Education, Music History and Relationships between Music and Poetry. He has been Visiting Professor in Sorbonne (Paris IV, France) Texas A&M University (USA), Universität Heidelberg (Germany) and University of Nottingham (England).
Director of I+D+i National and Regional Projects (POII11-0191-1369; HAR2013-47243-P; POII11-2014-010-A), evaluator of research projects for CNEAI (National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity), he has participated in more than 50 International Congress and he has written more than 90 articles and books about topics such Music and Literature (especially about musical reception of poetry and literary works), Music and Rhetoric and Musical Life in Sixteenth and Seventeenth Century (Golden Age) in Spain.

Cervantes and Music

Study Cervantes' texts and the music of  his time: singers, dancers, performers, songs, musical instruments, social contexts, etc... Study of Cervantes' musical reception through different music genres: opera, song, programa music, contemporain music, etc.. 

Music and Literature

Study of the relationships between Music and Literature, particularly in Renaissance and Baroque Era (Garcilaso de la Vega, Gutierre de Cetina, Cervantes, Lope de Vega, Rojas Zorrilla, Góngora or Calderón) and Twentieth Century (Nicolás Guillén, Gabriel García Márquez or Joyce)
